sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile hits the streets of Plymouth

The nation rises up to go the extra Mile for Sport Relief 2012

More than one million Milers take part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile

More than one million men, women and children have taken part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile this weekend, with a record number of people taking to the streets today (Sunday 25th March) at hundreds of Mile events across the length and breadth of the country.

In Plymouth, 2,495 people donned running gear or fancy dress to do 1, 3 or 6 miles in glorious sunshine. Plymouth Miler Linda Bertram, running the Mile with husband Nigel and grandchildren Aiva (8), Lila (5) and Indi (3) said: “I really feel like I’ve been part of something very special today. The atmosphere has been electric and knowing that we’ve been raising lots of money to help people living really tough lives here in London, the UK and in the world’s poorest countries has been a great feeling.”

Famous faces joined Plymouth Milers to celebrate the UK’s biggest year of sport including Ben McBean, Pen Hadow and Emma Pierson among others.
